Mato Nanji, longtime front man of Native American band Indigenous, makes an effort to improve his craft with each record. His playing and singing have never been better than on his 11th commercial outing Gray Skies. On this fourth CD for Blues Bureau International, Mato once again forges ahead, pushing himself to new personal bests. The groups music is motivated not only by blues and rock greats, such as Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and B.B. King, but also by the social issues and cultural bonds of the Matos Nakota roots. They have won Native American Music Awards for blues recording of the year as well as artists of the year. Mato has also picked up a devoted audience as a featured member of the annually sold out Hendrix Experience Tour since 2002.
